EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE OF SIGMA ASPHALT PLANTS AT ISTANBUL – IZMIR HIGHWAY

August 2019

The 260 tons/hour and 340 tons/hour SIGMA plants completed their job with great success and the highway is opened to traffic.

Many parts of the project were already completed earlier, but the 433 km long Istanbul – Izmir Highway is fully opened to traffic on August 4, 2019. Two SIGMA asphalt plants contributed to this one of the most prestigious project lately under construction in Turkey.

The 260 t/h capacity first asphalt plant was installed in 2014 at Yalova, the Istanbul end of the project. Having completed 600.000 tons of hot-mix asphalt in 19 months, the plant was transferred to Soma/ Manisa in 2017. At the new location, the plant produced about 750.000 tons of hot-mix.

The second SIGMA plant for the Izmir end of the project, the 340 tons/hour capacity one was installed at Kemalpasa/ Izmir, in June 2016. In about 30 months period, the plant produced about 1.200.000 tons of hot-mix asphalt and completed its job. Due to the successful performance of both plants, SIGMA is very proud to have some contribution to this important project.
